Another chance meeting with a great shot

It has been an interesting week. Some stuff at work has weighed heavily, my own choice, of course, but I haven't been able to shake it. It all will resolve one way or the other, but in the meantime, nobody seems to particularly worried. So I guess I can let it go.

And, of course, Mead Labs and CIM continues to chunk along. New stuff to do everyday and all of it has to been done in the next 10 minutes.

Finally today I can pay off Dr. Mead's credit cards for Mead Labs. I'm going to be very glad when Dr. Wiss gets here. He is smart and fun and will bring some sanity to the situation.

Geez, what a whiney post!

Enough of that entertainment for the moment!

Grabbed this pix a couple of weeks ago on the way home from Starbucks. It is great to get back into photography a bit. Will be nice to afford a better camera one of these days, but if I can get this stuff with my little one, well, so be it! After the first of the year, I'm gonna see about about doing some big blow ups of some of these shots.

Finally, we get to open packages on Thursday night! Twill be fun!

Beauty-When it happens, it happens!

Several weeks ago we were out in the Willamette Valley wine tasting with friends. We walked out of one of the wineries and the sunlight was blazing out of the clouds. It was very pretty and I grabbed my little POS digital camera and took a couple of shots, not expecting much.

A couple of days later I download the shot and started playing with it as wallpaper. It was kinda dark and gray. Then I printed it. Geez!

I sat and stared at it for 10 minutes. It was amazing! The combination of camera limitations and printing limitations turned it into something that looked like one of those Chinese landscape paintings.

Go figure, beauty, when you least expect it.

The Double Standard

Ok, this is one of those whiner posts, but I want to explore this a bit.

Why is it that I seem to be the only one in my life that is not allowed any slack? I have to perform flawlessly in all situations, instantly, or the very value of my existence is questioned.

If this were a new feature, I'd be less puzzled. But over the years, I find myself constantly in a situation where my life has to consist of zero errors and others, including those who delight in holding me to these high standards, fuck up right and left and simply shrug their shoulders and move on!

Ok, so what is it about me. . .?

Will ponder that and get back to you!

What a day!

I woke up today and trundled into get my headset and iPod for my morning hum along with Wayne Dyer and it was pouring rain outside!

I've been fighting a bit of a something, sore throat, etc. and have been feeling a bit sick/cold but that pouring rain just cheered me right up! I don't know what it is. The sound of rain on a metal roof or loud enough that you can hear the splashes in the street are better than a Valium (though I've never had one, so not absolutely sure) for me.

And, since it is November 1, I've turned on the Christmas music on my iPod. What a great drive to work!

Back in the saddle, again.

Just checked and it's been close to three months since I wrote here. I gave myspace.com a run but it really didn't work all that well and was kinda ugly compared to here.

So, here's the deal. Nate and Heidi are moving back to town next week. Nate's working at MSC and with Andy on Labrix. It is fun having Nate in the office. He is funny, smart and is fun to be around.

Hopefully, the CIM and Mead Labs sale will finally close this week. It has been a bit of slog, but amazingly, nobody has fallen off the train yet! Had a few interesting moments, but John did a great job of keeping Dr. Mead focused on the goal.

Got all of our taxes done through 2004! That was amazing and we will have a small tax bill. But the prep costs almost as much as the taxes!

We are invited to John's Halloween party. That will be fun! Trying to figure out whether or not to do the costume thing. We'll see how that pans out.

That's it for today.

What a day!

One of my favorite questions is "How do you know when you are overwhelmed?" It gives great insight to a person's self-awareness.

Well, I am overwhelmed! Not permanently. In fact, not even right this minute.

But, when I start finding myself pissed of at people who can't find their way out of a wet paper bag, well, I'm overwhelmed.

From the IRS to MSC to CIM to prepping for the weekend to making payroll on Monday, life is cabaret and it's full of folk who need me to make decisions!

I saw a post of www.bash.org that sums this all up:

<+kritical> christin: you need to learn how to figure out stuff yourself..
<+Christin1> how do i do that

So, today I will remind myself that I am a volunteer. I found a way to involve myself in all these situations because generally I like being involved!

On a happy note, I really like my new-used laptop! It is light fast and the battery lasts forever! I'm still getting it configured the way I want it, but it is generally quite a delight. And, between the Halliburton combination-locked case and the bicycle cable locking to the seat pedestal in the SUV, it should be a little harder to abscond with!

He's back!

I was sitting at Starbuck's this morning, watching a couple deal with some issue in their lives. The poor guy looked like he was getting hammered. Then it started looking like he was trying to look sad or cry to get sympathy. He kept holding one of her hands and she kept caressing her coffee cup with the other. She wasn't pulling her hand away, but if her arm had been pulled any tighter she would have dislocated her elbow!

Anyway, the drama of it all was delightful. They were sitting outside the window and I couldn't hear a word they were saying and it was still entertaining to watch!

So, I guess it was so amusing cause I wasn't the one getting hammered. Haven't been on the receiving end of that for awhile, but watching the little dance they were doing kinda brought it all back.

Made me want to write and I missed the blog so here we go again!
